ET Soccer: Strong field set for Lobo Invitational

Fourteen teams will clash over the next three days during the 2018 Lobo Invitational.
Exactly half the field, including a defending state champion, made the postseason a year ago, setting up three days of soccer over three sites for the annual tournament.
Longview will field two teams in the event with matches set for Lobo Stadium, the Longview High School grass field as well as LeTourneau University.
Kilgore, the Class 4A defending champion, will be joined by playoff teams from this past season in Longview, Tyler Lee, Marshall, Lindale, Henderson and Forney.
Rounding out the tournament field is Mesquite Horn, Hallsville, Jacksonville, New Summerfield, John Tyler and Lufkin.
Twelve schools will also field teams in the junior varsity division of the event, which begins today at Longview High School.
While they're not slated to compete over the weekend, a host of teams will get a look at district competition with Longview, Tyler Lee, John Tyler and Mesquite Horn representing District 11-6A. Hallsville and Marshall will collide later this season in District 16-4A, Lindale and Jacksonville meet in 17-5A and Marshall and Hallsville have a future date in 16-5A competition.
Host Longview comes into the weekend with a 2-1-2 record on the early season. The Lobos allowed five goals in three games this past weekend in the Forney Tournament.
Hallsville is off to a 3-2-1 start this season, while Marshall enters at 2-1, Jacksonville at 3-0, Henderson at 2-3 and Kilgore at 1-1.
The varsity final is set for 4 p.m. Saturday at Lobo Stadium, while the top two in the junior varsity bracket meet at the same time on the LHS grass field.
Also on tap this weekend is the Hallsville Ladycats' 2018 Showcase, with 11 games scheduled for today, 10 games on tap Friday and six matches on the slate for Saturday.
Games will be played at Bobcat Stadium and at the high school soccer field.
At Bobcat Stadium today, games are set for 9:15 a.m. (Spring Hill JV vs. Whitehouse JV), 11:15 a.m. (Spring Hill vs. Whitehouse), 1:15 p.m. (John Tyler vs. Pleasant Grove), 3:15 p.m. (John Tyler JV vs. Pleasant Grove JV), 5:15 p.m. (Whitehouse JV vs. Hallsville JV) and 7:15 p.m. (Whitehouse vs. Wylie East).
At the high school field, games are set for 9 a.m. (Hallsville JV vs. Sabine), 11 a.m. (Mount Pleasant vs. Lindale), 3 p.m. (Spring Hill JV vs. Palestine JV), 5 p.m. (Spring Hill vs. Palestine) and 7 p.m. (Lindale vs. Hallsville).
