Longview was able to trim down a double-digit deficit to Rockwall-Heath a few times Tuesday night.

But the Lady Hawks had an answer and were able to keep the Lady Lobos at arms length in the comeback attempt.

After leading by 21 points early in the third quarter, Rockwall-Heath was able to hold on for a 74-66 win over Longview in District 11-6A action at Lobo Coliseum.

With the win, Rockwall-Heath pulls even in 11-6A action at 3-3. The loss snaps a two-game streak for the Lady Lobos, who now enter the final game of the first half of district play at 2-4.

Led by a game-high 26 points from guard Macy Wilkerson, the Lady Hawks (14-11) held 10-point leads in the first and second quarters before taking a game-high 21 points lead, 44-23, early in the third.

That's when the Lady Lobos, led by a 23-point, 13-rebound double-double from Destiny McAfee, mounted the comeback.

Jordan McClain finished with 12 of her 15 points in the second half for the Lady Lobos and added three second-half steals. Heavunli Reese followed with nine points and Kindra Taylor had six points and six rebounds off the bench.

The Lady Lobos nearly double its production in the second half, putting up 43 points over the final two frames after trailing 40-23 at halftime.

Longview cut the deficit to eight points late in the third and trailed by seven, 70-63, with 2:05 left.

A whistle-heavy affair, with both teams playing the entire fourth in double bonus, didn't help the Lady Lobos, who went 18-of-36 from free-throw range.

Wilkerson was joined in double-digit nights by 13 points from Morgan Talley, Mya Bills and Kynia Wimbley. Rockwall-Heath, with a size advantage, held a slim advantage on rebounds, 36-32.

With 10 turnovers at halftime, Longview turned the ball over just three times in the second. The Lady Hawks had 22 turnovers overall.

Rockwall-Heath shot 12-of-17 in the second half while Longview went 12-of-22.

Bills had two threes, both off assists from Wilkerson, as Rockwall-Heath jumped to a quick 8-0 lead. A triple from Wilkerson have the Lady Hawks a 10-point lead with 6:13 left in the second quarter.

After a three from McClain, Rockwall-Heath went on a 9-0 run, spanning three minutes, and took the 17-point lead into halftime on a shot from Bills from beyond the arc.

Two quick buckets, the first off a steal, from Wilkerson to start the third put Rockwall-Heath up, 44-23.

A bucket off a steal from McClain and a three from Reese highlighted a Longview run, capped by a coast-to-coast bucket from McAfee to pull the Lady Lobos to within eight inside the final minute of the third.

The Lady Hawks, however, had an answer, scoring on their first four shots of the fourth quarter to thwart the comeback attempt.

Talley went 4-for-4 at the free-throw line inside the final 90 seconds for the Lady Hawks, who went 16-of-23 from the charity stripe.

Longview visits Mesquite on Friday while Rockwall-Heath hosts Mesquite Horn.
