Quarterbacks, receivers lead list of Built Ford Tough football honorees

Four quarterbacks and a couple of receivers made up the list of players selected as Built Ford Tough Texas High School Football Players of the Week for Week 2 of the 2017 season.
Quarterback Juma Otoviano of Arlington Martin (6), quarterback Ender Freeman of Abilene Cooper (5A), receiver Jordan Whittington of Cuero (4A), quarterback Aaron Frost of Alpine (3A), receiver Nelson Bermudez of McCamey (2A) and quarterback Shaun Taylor of Fort Worth All Saints (private schools) made up the list.
In its twelfth consecutive year, Ford Motor Company's Player of the Week program recognizes one player in each of the state's six athletic classifications. The winners are chosen for athletic achievements on the field, as well as for outstanding scholarship and community involvement.
Otoviano passed for 342 yards and five touchdowns, rushed for 182 yards and three scores, returned a kickoff 99 yards for a TD and added a two-point conversion in his first game as a quarterback, a 50-33 win over Southlake Carroll.
Freeman, making his second career start, completed 41 of 53 passes for 466 yards and three touchdowns in a 41-37 win over Grapevine.
Whittington accounted for five touchdowns and 273 all-purpose yards in a 41-13 win over Yoakum. He rushed 16 times for 148 yards an four touchdowns, caught five passes for 105 yards and a score and added six tackles and broke up two passes on defense.
Frost hit on 12 of 17 passes for 184 yards and three scores in a 60-0 win over Van Horn.
Bermudez caught five passes for 92 yards and three touchdowns, intercepted two passes, made six tackles and returned a fumble 55 yards for a touchdown in a 46-26 win over Coahoma.
Taylor completed 26 of 43 passes for 451 yards and six touchdowns in a 51-28 win over Trinity Christian-Addison.
