ET Baseball Roundup: Kilgore blanks Pine Tree, more

KILGORE 8, PINE TREE 0: Javan Smitherman tossed a complete game shutout and Kilgore built on an early lead to take a 8-0 win over Pine Tree on Saturday at the Field of Dreams.
Smitherman (2-0) struck out 11, walked two and scattered four hits over seven innings in the win for Kilgore. He helped his own cause at the plate, finishing 2-for-4 with two RBIs.
Collin Pippen led the Bulldogs at the plate, finishing 2-for-2 with three RBIs and two walks. Elijah Williams went 2-for-4 and scored three runs and Trae Clayton finished 2-for-3 with an RBI for Kilgore, who led 4-0 after two innings and opens district against Chapel Hill on Friday.
Will Harris, Hayden McAfee, Hunter Greenlee and Cade Hardin had hits for the Pirates.
VAN 5, GLADEWATER 3: VAN — After exchanging runs in the first inning, Van tacked on two in the third and another pair in the fifth to take a 5-3 non-district win over Gladewater.
Casey Morrow turned in a big day at the plate for the Vandals, finishing 3-for-3 with a home run and four total RBIs. Sean Beasly added an RBI on a pair of hits.
For Gladewater, who rallied for runs in the sixth and seventh frames, Keylon Mack homered, doubled and had two RBIs. Live Ellis added an RBI for the Bears.
MOUNT PLEASANT 1, PINE TREE 0: MOUNT PLEASANT — Connor Gage picked up a first-inning RBI and Mount Pleasant made the lone run stand in a 1-0 home win over Pine Tree in District 16-5A action on Friday night.
Hayden McBride pitched 6.2 innings of scoreless work, scattering five hits with five strikeouts in the win for Mount Pleasant.
Daylon Bearden, who shouldered the loss for the Pirates after giving up three hits and an unearned run, doubled and had a pair of hits for Pine Tree, who stranded eight on base in the loss.
ORE CITY 16, WASKOM 8: WASKOM — Ore City claimed its first lead in the sixth inning and continued the late-inning onslaught to take a 16-8 win over Waskom in District 16-3A action.
Ore City struck first with a run in the top of the first before Waskom answered with three in the home frame and built an 8-2 lead after three. Ore City plated two in the fourth, one in the fifth, five in the six and six in the seventh in the high-scoring win.
Treston Hopper and Ty Freeman belted home runs and were two of five Rebels with multi-hit games. Hopper finished with three RBIs and Luke Harris plated three runs with a pair of doubles. Joe Campbell also added two RBIs in the win for Ore City.
PITTSBURG 10, GLADEWATER 4: GLADEWATER — Cristian Netro was a home run short of the cycle as Pittsburg rolled to a 10-4 non-district road win over Gladewater.
Netro doubled, tripled and finished with three RBIs for the Pirates, who plated five runs in the second inning after taking a 2-1 lead after the first.
Dakota Torrey had two RBIs with a double and Brett McGee and Jace Wood had mult-hit nights for Pittsburg, who took advantage of three Gladewater errors.
Keylon Mack doubled and went 3-for-3 at the plate for Gladewater. Jace Armstrong and Daniel Robertson added doubles for the Bears.
RUSK 6, HENDERSON 3: HENDERSON — Rusk used a four-run fifth inning to rally for a 6-3 win over over Henderson in District 16-4A action at Lion Field.
Henderson jumped to a 3-0 lead after two innings before Rusk plated one run in the third and claimed the lead with a four spot in the fifth.
Parker Milsap homered and went 2-for-3 for Rusk, who also got RBI hits from Noah Acker and Konner Gayle. Acker had a triple in the win for Rusk, who took advantage of three Henderson errors.
Andrew Gates struck out five in the complete-game win. Brennon Henderson shouldered the loss for the Lions, striking out seven and allowing one earned run on four hits.
Kaine Campbell doubled and had two RBIs at the plate for the Lions. Dalton Simmons also plated a run.
NEW BOSTON 2, HUGHES SPRINGS 0, 8 INNINGS: HUGHES SPRINGS — After seven scoreless innings, Tyler Graham and Hunter Burleson belted RBIs to lift New Boston to a 2-0, extra-inning win over Hughes Springs in District 14-3A action.
Phillip Sissons picked up the win on the mound for New Boston, scattering four hits and striking out five in seven innings of work. Tyler Strain picked up the save with a strikeout.
Riley McKinney struck out nine in the loss for Hughes Springs, giving up four hits and one earned run in 7.1 innings of work.
Sissons went 2-for-4 at the plate for New Boston while Triston Hickey, Garrett Golden, Shawn Pope and Brady McEntire had hits for Hughes Springs.
GARY 15, MOUNT ENTERPRISE 2: MOUNT ENTERPRISE — Gary scored early and often, taking a 15-2, five-inning road win over Mount Enterprise in a District 23-2A contest.
Gary plated five runs in the first and led 13-1 after three innings with seven players turning in multi-hit nights in a 22-hit outburst.
Collin Linebarger doubled, tripled and went 3-for-3 with two RBIs. Carson Daniels had four RBIs while Brenton Humphries plated three runs and had a triple.
