ET Baseball Roundup: Longview beaten by Horn on road, more

HORN 11, LONGVIEW 1: MESQUITE — Mesquite Horn used a seven-run fourth inning to take control of things, and put the game away with four in the fifth en route to an 11-1 District 11-6A win over the Longview Lobos on Friday.

The Lobos were held hitless by Horn's Kyle Quinn, who struck out six and walked two. Cody Haggerty walked and scored Longview's lone run in the top of the second inning.

SULPHUR SPRINGS 2, MARSHALL 1: SULPHUR SPRINGS — Sulphur Springs countered Marshall's one run in the top of the third with two in the bottom half, and the Wildcats held on for a 2-1 win over the Mavericks in District 16-5A play.

Cade Bickerdike had two of Marshall's eight hits, and Jake McMullen singled and drove in a run from the top of the order for the Mavericks.

Trevor Clark took the pitching loss. He struck out seven, walked six and allowed two earned runs on two hits in five innings.

PLEASANT GROVE 14, SPRING HILL 2: Caleb Bolden came up big at the plate and on the hill for Pleasant Grove, leading the Hawks to a 14-2 win over the Spring Hill Panthers.

Bolden struck out seven, walked one and allowed two hits while homering and driving in three runs offensively.

Caden Noah homered and drove in two runs, and Austin Green doubled for the Panthers in the loss.

Four Panthers saw action on the mound, with Jared Blake taking the loss. He struck out five and walked two in 3.2 innings.

CARTHAGE 1, CENTER 0: CARTHAGE — Dillon Morris hurled a no-hitter at Center, striking out 11 and walking one, as Carthage earned a 1-0 win over the Roughriders.

Morris threw 66 of his 99 pitches for strikes.

Baylor Colle tripled and drove in a run, and Kason Davis and Kelan Foster added hits for the Bulldogs. Davis' hit was a double.

BECKVILLE 7, WHITE OAK 4: WHITE OAK — Ethan Harris homered, doubled, singled and drove in three runs while also picking up the win on the mound for Beckville, and the Bearcats earned a 7-4 District 16-3A win over White Oak.

Harris struck out five, walked two and allowed two earned runs in 6.1 innings. Michael Mize worked the final two outs for Beckville.

Ty Jones added a double, single and RBI for Beckville. Zach Collins and Bryce Osborn had two hits apiece, with Collins driving in a run. Ben Bridges also plated a run for the Bearcats.

For White Oak in the loss, Layton Anderson and Dalton Sumrow had two hits apiece, and Heath Hood, Taylor Meaux, Anderson and Zach Maly all drove in runs.

Collin Bower shouldered the pitching loss.

LINDEN-KILDARE 13, DETROIT 2: DETROIT — Marty Johnson's second-inning grand slam put the game out of reach, and Linden-Kildare coasted to a 13-2 win over Detroit.

Johnson finished with two hits and five RBIs for the Tigers, who also got two hits apiece from Dalton Alford, Traccer Henry, Deuce Schuler, Nic Kunze and Dalton Hendrix. Hendrix drove in two runs, and Schuler, Caleb Cunningham, Kunze and Trent Wert added an RBI apiece.

Cunningham picked up the pitching win. He struck out three and walked one in five innings.

OVERTON 14, KING'S 2: OVERTON — Brady Brown drove in three runs, and Tanner Lee and Levi McCasland combined on a three-hitter as Overton rolled to a 14-2 win over King's Academy.

Gavin Flanagan and Joe Clark both tripled, and Crawford Bobbitt and Lee doubled for the Mustangs. Lee had two hits and drove in a run, and Bobbitt and Flanagan added two hits and an RBI apiece. Clark, Bailey Martin and Hudson Rogers also drove in runs for the Mustangs, who swiped 15 bases — including four apiece by Bobbitt and Luke Osburn.

Lee struck out one and walked two and McCasland fanned three and walked one while working two innings apiece.


GLADEWATER 3, MINEOLA 2: VAN — Gladewater scored twice in the bottom of the second to take the lead, and the Bears made it stand in a 3-2 victory over Mineola at the Van Tournament.

Jace Armstrong doubled for the Bears, who also got singles from Daniel Robertson, Robby Hodges and Derek Wallace and solid pitching from Braiden Vickers and Keylon Mack.

Vickers worked six innings and got the win, striking out 11, walking three and giving up one earned run on two hits. Mack fanned two in his one inning of work.

Also on Thursday, the Bears dropped a 4-1 decision to Pittsburg.

Armstrong also doubled and drove in a run in the loss. Mack, Robby Hodges and Collin Keller added singles.

HARMONY 10, UNION GROVE 0: HARMONY — Caleb Hart tripled and singled, Drew McNeel and Easton Blackstone drove in three runs apiece and the Harmony Eagles rolled to a 10-0 win over Union Grove.

Blackstone had two hits and Drew McNeel one, with Hunter McNeel, Trenton Hart and Justin Wingfield all driving in runs.

J.P. Poers struck out five and walked three in six innings for the shutout win.

Noah Mayhan had two hits in the loss for Union Grove.
