ET Soccer Roundup: Pine Tree girls clinch playoff spot, more

PINE TREE 2, TEXAS HIGH 1: TEXARKANA — Eden Antonisse tied things late in the first half and scored again in overtime, lifting the Pine Tree Lady Pirates to a 2-1 win over Texas High and clinching a playoff berth for the Lady Pirates.

Pine Tree, 6-6 in District 16-5A, will face Highland Park to open the playoffs next week.

Texas High scored six minutes into the contest to take a 1-0 lead, but Antonisse drilled a free kick from 30 yards out with three minutes left in the half to tie things at 1-1.

After a scorelss second half, Antonisse scored off an assist from Ariana Alba two minutes into overtime and the Lady Pirates made it stand.

Lexie Tate worked in goal for the Lady Pirates, finishing with nine saves.

SULPHUR SPRINGS 2, HALLSVILLE 1: SULPHUR SPRINGS — Mileena Zirretta scored with 3:15 remaining to give Sulphur Springs a 2-1 win over Hallsville in a District 16-5A battle.

Sulphur Springs clinched the runner-up spot in the district race with the win, which was Hallsville's lone loss in league play.

The only goal by the Lady Bobcats came by Mariah Martinez with 19:59 left in the first half.

The Lady Cats tied the game when freshman Sophie Young scored with 11:10 to play in the opening half.
