ET Volleyball: Beckville wins Longview tourney, more

BECKVILLE WINS: Led by all-tournament picks Riley Seegers, Hannah Humphries and Courtlyn Nail, the Beckville Ladycats defeated Pine Tree for the championship of the Longview Tournament on Saturday.

After defeating White Oak (25-18, 25-14) and Longview (25-16, 25-18), Beckville earned a 25-20, 25-21 win over Pine Tree in the championship match.

Seegers finished the day with five aces, 17 kills, nine digs and three blocks. Nail had eight aces, one kill and 25 digs, and Humphries chipped in with 13 kills and five digs. Kaylee Hull had 12 digs and two aces, Kinley Pepper four aces, 17 digs and 55 assists, Baley McGuire 10 digs, Jordan Tondreau nine kills and seven digs, Payton Jones 14 kills and 16 digs and Miranda Mize two kills and two digs.

Beckville (6-0) will visit Henderson on Tuesday.

PT FINISHES 2ND: The Pine Tree Lady Pirates placed second in the Gold Bracket of the Longview Tournament, defeating Pleasant Grove (21-25, 25-20, 25-22) and Lindale (27-25, 25-22) before falling to Beckville (25-20, 25-21) in the title match.

Emily Jones had three aces and nine kills in the win over Pleasant Grove. Maizie Hart and Sam Somerfield added three kills apiece, Sarah Moore eight kills, Jordan Fuller four kills and Harper Finley two kills. Natalie Collins dished out 11 assists, and Sarah Moore added 10, while Fuller added four blocks and Hart and Finley three apiece. Haley Morgan finished with eight digs, Blair Shelton, Moore and Jones six apiece, Sommerfield four, Fuller three and Collins two.

Against Lindale, Morgan and Shelton had two aces apiece. Hart, Sommerfield, Jones and Fuller all had four kills, with Finley and Moore adding three apiece. Moore had 10 assists and Collins six. Fuller finished wit five blocks, and Sommerfield, Finley and Hart added two apiece. Shelton led with 11 digs. Morgan and Riley Stanley added eight apiece, Sommerfield seven, Collins five, Moore four, Fuller three and Finley and Jones two apiece.

Finley hammered eight kills against Beckville, with Moore adding four and Sommerfield three. Moore had nine assists and Collins five. Fuller finished with two blocks. Shelton and Stanley had seven digs apiece, Moore and Sommerfield six apiece, Morgan five and Jones two.

LONGVIEW GOES 1-2: The host Longview Lady Lobos opened bracket play at the Longview Tournament with a win over Hooks (25-12, 25-16), but fell to Beckville (25-16, 25-18) and Lindale (17-25, 25-17, 25-23) to end the day.

Destiny McAfee had 11 kills and two blocks against Hooks. Kennedy Eynon added eight kills, six assists and a block, Taisha Mackey five kills, Malaika Pencheon five kills, Morgan Vance 12 assists and Brooke Goynes six digs and three aces.

Against Beckville, Eynon finished with four kills and six assists, Taylor Hendrix four kills, McAfee three kills and Vance nine assists.

Vance had 13 assists and Eynon 12 assists, nine kills and nine digs in the loss to Lindale. McAfee finished with nine kills, Hendrix four kills, Mackey three kills, Rynie Barnes nine digs and three aces and Goynes 10 digs.

Longview (5-2) visits Arp on Tuesday.

LADYNECKS GO 1-2: The White Oak Ladynecks defeated Hooks (25-23, 21-25, 25-20) and fell to Beckville (25-16, 25-14) and Pleasant Grove (27-25, 25-17) to close out play at the Longview Tournament on Saturday.

In the win over Hooks, Cayman Sutton had two aces, Alysa Hall five receptions, Madison Sigmon four receptions, Anna Dusek three receptions and Sutton and Tifani Barham two receptions apiece, Sutton two solo blocks and three block assists, Barham three block assists, Sigmon nine kills, Kinsey Smith and Taylor Scott three kills apiece, Kaitlyn Reed two kills, Sigmon, Barham and Sutton four digs apiece, Destiny Morgan seven digs, Hall 12 digs, Dusek three digs, Weeks two digs and Brooklyn Noll 17 digs.

In the loss to Beckville, Smith and Sigmon had three kills apiece, Barham and Weeks four digs apiece, Morgan two digs, Sigmon, Hall and Dusek three digs apiece, Noll five digs, Reed and Hall three block assists, Sigmon two block assists, Morgan five receptions, Noll and Barham four receptions apiece and Dusek two receptions.

Sigmon had three kills in the loss to Pleasant Grove. Barham had eight digs, Morgan and Weeks four digs apiece, Hall and Dusek two digs apiece, Noll 11 digs, Smith two solo blocks and two block assists, Sutton three block assists, Noll 11 receptions, Barham four receptions and Morgan and Dusek two receptions apiece.

Kyla Weeks had 24 assists on the day. Lisa Potichko chipped in with nine.


HALLSVILLE GOES 1-2: GARLAND — The Hallsville Ladycats dropped a 17-25, 25-21, 25-22 decision to Berkner, bounced back for a 25-17, 25-14 win over Mesquite and fell to Heritage (25-21, 19-25, 25-22) to close out play in the Garland ISD Tournament.

Addison McDermott finished the day with 33 kills, 15 digs, five aces and nine blocks. Gracey Ford and Jessica Buderus had 14 kills apiece. Ashley Jones chipped in with 42 assists and 12 digs, Alexis Simmons 28 digs and four aces and Maile Nelson 25 digs and three aces.

CARTHAGE GOES 1-2: GARLAND — The Carthage Lady Bulldogs opened bracket play with a 25-17, 25-17 win over Wylie East, but fell to Fort Worth Braswell (23-25, 25-21, 25-21) in the semifinals and dropped a 25-10, 25-21 decision to Forney in the third-place match at the Garland ISD Tournament.

Mattie Doffitt had 20 kills and DeDe Pope 19 on the day. Courtney Edge finished the day with 53 digs.

RAINS GOES 1-2: GARLAND — Rains finished the Garland ISD Tournament with a win and two losses on Saturday.

After opening with a 25-21, 25-21 win over Carrollton Ranchview, the Lady Cats fell to Texas High (25-18, 26-24) and Carrollton Newman Smith (25-18, 11-25, 25-20).

Against Ranchview, Shelbi Sheppard and McKenna Hildebrandt had nine kills apiece, with Sheppard adding 12 assists and combining with Presley McAree for 19 digs.

Sheppard and Hildebrandt had four kills apiece against Texas High. Sheppard and Vivian Bradshaw had six assists apiece, and Elissa Elliott finished with 11 digs.

Aubrey Gowin and Hildebrandt had five kills and two blocks apiece against Newman Smith. Sheppard totaled 14 assists, 14 digs, two aces and four kills.

Rains (2-5) visits Sunnyvale on Tuesday.


NEW DIANA WINS: WIMBERLEY — The New Diana Lady Eagles went 3-0 on Saturday to win the Silver Bracket of the Wimberley Tournament, knocking off Edna (25-11, 25-19) and Caddo Mills (20-25, 28-26, 25-20) before defeating Salado (25-21, 25-17) in the title match.

All-tournament selection Katie Easley finished the day with 24 kills, 10 digs, six blocks, two aces and two assists. McKinley Brewer added five kills, nine digs and four aces, Makayla Simmons 26 assists, 14 digs and six kills, Lauren James 18 digs and two assists, Krista Russell 11 kills, three digs and two aces, Haley Holt 11 digs, Ali Leslie 15 kills and seven digs, Gabi Moore 13 kills, two assists and five blocks and Joelle Newton 33 assists, 14 digs and three aces.

New Diana (7-1) will visit Gilmer on Tuesday.


MARSHALL DROPS 2: VAN — The Marshall Lady Mavs fell to Bullard (25-20, 25-18) and John Tyler (25-21, 25-17) on Saturday at the Van Tournament.

Kiari Johnson had three kills and a block against Bullard. Ja'Kiya Fisher added five kills and a block, Gabby Moore three kills, six digs, five assists and a block, Chloe Buchanan six digs, Elizabeth Palmer seven digs and Cate Truelove seven assists and one ace.

Against John Tyler, Palmer had five digs, Moore three kills and four assists and Keara Irving three blocks.

WINONA WINS: VAN — The Winona Lady Wildcats, coach by former Pine Tree standout LaTasha Jacobs, defeated Gladewater (25-14, 25-14), Chapel Hill (25-12, 25-15) and Eustace (25-18, 25-23) to win the Silver Bracket of the Van Invitational on Saturday.


UNION GROVE 2ND: GARY — The Union Grove Lady Lions dropped a 25-15, 25-10 decision to the Carthage JV in the Gary Tournament's Silver Bracket title match.

Union Grove reached the championship match with wins over Center (25-15, 25-8) and Carlisle (25-20, 25-27, 25-22).

Haley Breazeale had 15 digs, 10 kills, 24 assists, two blocks and two aces on the day for Union Grove. Summer Grubbs finished with 16 digs, 20 kills, 14 assists and two aces, Lizzie Bible eight digs and five kills, McCayleigh Daniels eight digs, Brooke Reeves three digs, 13 kills, 14 blocks and two aces, Madison Webb six digs, four kills, four blocks and an ace, Kasi Jones four digs and three blocks, Shayla Gallagher six digs and five kills, Mariana Gonzalez 14 digs, Madi Newman four digs and Peyton Chamberlain three digs.

Union Grove (3-4) will host Pittsburg on Tuesday.


LADY LIONS WIN: LEVERETT'S CHAPEL — The host Lady Lions defeated East Texas Christian School, 21-25, 25-21, 15-8, to capture the championship at the Leverett's Chapel Tournament on Saturday.

The Lady Lions, now 5-1 on the year, were paced by Gracie Bathke with 12 digs, 17 assists and two aces. Aubrey Williamson added nine kills, three digs and two assists, Yesenia Avalos seven kills, 11 digs and two aces and Skyla Craig 18 digs.

Also on Saturday, Leverett's Chapel defeated Waskom (29-27, 25-18). Avalos had eight kills, Aubrey Williamson five kills and Sara Williamson four kills.

In Silver Bracket play, Christian Heritage of Tyler defeated Union Hill (25-23, 25-12), Trinity School of Texas defeated Union Hill (26-24, 25-17) and Christian Heritage defeated TST 25-16, 26-24 to win the Silver Bracket.

All-tournament selections were Bathke of Leverett's Chapel, Isabella Hill and Riley Park of East Texas Christian School, Lauren Parkinson of Waskom, Faith Carroll and Lauren Pitts of Christian Heritage, Kelsey Rathbun of Trinity School of Texas, Sasha Conner of Longview Christian School and Hannah Campbell of Union Hill.

ETCS PLACES 2ND: LEVERETT'S CHAPEL — East Texas Christian School dropped a 20-25, 25-21, 15-8 decision to host team Leverett's Chapel in the championship match.

Destini Dixon had three kills and six assists for ETCS. Micaiah Dixon added two kills and six digs, Isabella Hill 17 kills, Jaden Parker two aces and six assists, Jordan Parker two aces, Riley Park eight digs and 17 receptions, Abby Truman a dig and Jaelene McIlhenney an ace.

In a 25-21, 25-18 win over Longview Christian School, Destini Dixon finished with two kills and five assists, Micaiah Dixon six kills and three digs, Hill six kills and eight digs, Jaden Parker four assists, Jordan Parker two aces and Riley park four digs.

LCS DROPS 2: LEVERETT'S CHAPEL — Longview Christian School fell to Waskom (25-21, 25-13) and East Texas Christian School on Saturday at the Leverett's Chapel Tournament.

In the loss to Waskom, Emily Thornton had two aces, Anna Clark three kills and Jasmine Smith and Kate Brown two kills apiece, Sasha Conner one block and Smith four assists.

Conner had three aces and Evy Matthews two in the loss to ETCS. Conner added one kill, and Alex Clendening and Thornton had a dig apiece.
