Two-Minute Drill: Benefit car wash set Saturday, more

BENEFIT CAR WASH: The third annual I Love Lynzee Project car wash is set for 9 a.m.-2 p.m. on Saturday at Gabriel/Jordan Buick GMC in Kilgore.

The I Love Lynzee Project helps donate blankets to Ronald McDonald House in Dallas, where Ford and her mother, Valerie Warren, stayed when Ford had treatments at Children's Medical Center in Dallas.

Money raised next week will also go toward a scholarship set up in Ford's name to be awarded each year to a Kilgore High School graduate who embodies the spirit Ford brought to Kilgore.

Proceeds will also go to Make a Wish in Tyler.

Lynzee died Oct. 23, 2014, after an eight-month battle with leukemia.

JUNIOR FOOTBALL: Registration for Pine Tree Junior Football is set for 10 a.m.-2 p.m. on Saturday at 3211 W. Marshall Ave. in Longview.

Flag football (grades K-3) is $65. Tackle football (grades 4-6) is $110.

Players must have a copy of their birth certificate if they did not play last year for PTJF.

MUD RUN: Registration is open for the Run it Like It's Hot Miracle Mud Run, which is set for Aug. 19 at Lear Park.

The run features a 3.1-mile course filled with muddy obstacles.

Cost is $60 per person through Aug. 18 and $75 on race day; it's $25 per child for the children's course and $5 for spectators.

Proceeds will benefit the Miracle League of East Texas, which is building a baseball field to serve children with disabilities.

BENEFIT TOURNAMENT: The "Colby's Courage Baseball Benefit Tournament" is set for Aug. 19-20 at the Hughes Springs Baseball Complex.

Team entry fee is $250 for a three-game guarantee. The entry fee covers umpire fees and rings for first and second place.

Entry fee for fans is $2 per person (5 and under free).

Money raised from the event will help with medical expenses for Colby Babcock, who has hypoplastic left heart syndrome. His story can bee seen on his Facebook page at Colby's Courage.

FALL BASEBALL: Registration for the Longview Boys Baseball Association's fall season continues through Aug. 23.

Players may register at www.longviewboysbaseball.org using PayPal or download a form and mail it in with payment.

Registration is also set at TA Sports (103 W. Loop 281) from 9 a.m.-6 p.m. Monday through Saturday and from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. on Aug. 12 at the Greggton Community Center (3211 W. Marshall).

Players age is the age they will be on April. 30, 2018. Leagues will be for ages 7-8, 9-10 and 11-12.

Fee is $60, and players do not have to be Longview residents.
