ET Volleyball: Longview, Carthage, New Diana notch sweeps, more

LONGVIEW 3, LINDALE 0: LINDALE — Morgan Vance handed out 13 assists, Destiny McAfee ripped seven kills and the Longview Lady Lobos moved to 2-0 on the young season with a 25-17, 25-18, 25-14 sweep of Lindale.

McAfee added four blocks and seven digs for Longview. Kennedy Eynon chipped in with six kills, nine assists and two aces, Taylor Hendrix five kills and two blocks, Malaika Pencheon four kills, two bloks and three digs, Vance seven digs and Manecia Darden and Brooke Goynes 10 digs apiece.

Darden also had two aces and was 5-for-5 on serve receive.

Longview will host a tournament this weekend.

WHITEHOUSE 3, HALLSVILLE 2: WHITEHOUSE — Hallsville opened the season with a 25-15, 19-25, 17-25, 25-20, 15-13 setback to Whitehouse.

Addie McDermott had 12 kills, six digs and six blocks in the loss for the Ladycats. Gracey Ford added seven kills and five digs, Alexis Simmons 24 digs and Ashley Jones 33 assists, six digs and two aces.

Hallsville will participate in the Garland ISD Tournament this weekend.

CARTHAGE 3, BULLARD 0: CARTHAGE — Mattie Doffitt and DeDe Pope hammered home 10 kills apiece, Kim Worsham and Lexi Alexander combined for 28 assists and the Carthage Lady Bulldogs opened the season with a 25-19, 25-15, 25-18 sweep of Bullard.

Worsham had 15 assists and six digs, and Alexander added 13 assists for Carthage. Doffitt chipped in with four blocks and three aces, Emily Pyle two blocks and Courtney Edge 17 digs.

Carthage will participate in the Garland Tournament this weekend.

QUITMAN 3, TATUM 1: QUITMAN — The Tatum Lady Eagles dropped a 25-22, 24-26, 25-16, 25-14 decition to Quitman to open the season.

For Tatum in the loss, Madison Fite had 11 kills, 14 digs, three assists, two blocks and two aces. Essence Allen added eight kills, 13 digs, 18 assists and eight blocks, Ashton Brown 11 kills, 17 digs, 13 assists and six blocks, Ania Centers five kills, 16 digs and three assists, Adriana Bradley eight digs, Lela Burney eight digs, Averi Brown four kills and two bloks and Alex Windom three digs.

For Quitman in the win, Kaci Raley had 10 digs, 24 kills and four blocks. Molly Tanner added 18 digs, eight kills and three aces, Cammie Hicks 12 digs and 37 assists and Madalyn Spears 13 digs and 10 kills.

WO SPLITS: TYLER — The White Oak Ladynecks opened the season by splitting a pair of games, sweeping Gilmer s25-23, 26-24, 25-22 and falling to Tyler Lee 25-17, 25-16, 25-17.

In the win over Gilmer, Kinsey Smith had 12 kills and six digs, Madison Sigmon nine kills and three digs, Tifanie Barham 11 digs, Destiny Morgan eight digs, Brooklyn Noll 28 digs, Anne Dusek 19 digs and Alysa Hall nine digs.

Noll had 23 digs, Macy Weeks 22 digs, Sigmon five kills, Smith 16 digs, Barham 11 digs and Morgan six digs in the loss to Tyler Lee. Kaitlyn Reed and Smith added three kills apiece, with Barham and Cayman Sutton adding two each.

Lisa Potichko dished out 31 assists against Gilmer and 15 against Tyler Lee.

White Oak will participate in the Longview Tournament this weekend.

BECKVILLE 3, CENTRAL HEIGHTS 1: NACOGDOCHES — Riley Seegers knocked down 12 kills, Kinley Pepper handed out 31 assists and the Beckville Ladycats opened the season with a 25-23, 25-16, 19-25, 25-16 win over Central Heights.

Seegers also had two aces, two kills and two blocks. Pepper chipped in with two aces and three digs, Baley McGuire five digs, Jordan Tondreau nine kills and three digs, Payton Jones five kills and 14 digs, Miranda Mize six kills and Hannah Humphries eight kills and four digs.

Beckville will participate in the Longview Tournament this weekend.

NEW DIANA WINS 2: NEW CHAPEL HILL — The New Diana Lady Eagles opened the season with a pair of wins on Tuesday, sweeping Chapel Hill (25-20, 25-18, 25-6) and Harmony (25-16, 25-19, 25-13.

Against Chapel Hill, McKinley Brewer finished with six kills, Makayla Simmons 15 assists, four digs, five aces and four kills, Lauren James 10 digs, Crystal Russell two kills, Katie Easley five kills, four digs and two aces, Haley Holt six digs and three aces, Gabby Moore seven kills and joelle Newton 11 assists, two digs and two aces.

In the win over harmony, Brewer had two kills, Simmons five kills, 15 assists, two blocks and two digs, James five digs and two aces, Russell nine kills, Easley 18 kills, four blocks and three digs, Holt nine digs, Ally Leslie six kills, Moore two kills and Newton 18 assists and three digs.

New Diana will participate in the Wimberley Tournament this weekend.

SABINE WINS 2: MINEOLA — The Sabine Lady Cardinals opened the season with sweeps of Gladewater (25-10, 25-15, 25-16) and Mineola (25-10, 25-18, 25-12) on Tuesday.

Against Gladewater, Kristen Stuart had seven kills, Miranda Cook six, Sam Bell four, Brookelyn Gray three and Andrea Busby and Jordin Broadway two apiece. Hannah Merritt added twi aces, Sarah Davis three and Bell four. Gray finished with 14 digs, Merritt three, Hagen Dorman and Sierrah Richter seven apiece, Mikinzi Cantrell two, Davis four and Bell 10, Richter 13 assists and Davis 11.

Stuart had eight kills, Richter five, Cook four, Bell six and Jada Carter two in the win over Mineola. Bell had nine aces, with Gray and Cook adding two apiece. Gray finished with 16 digs, Dorman 15, Bell 14, Merritt and Davis two apiece and Richter five, and Richter had 12 assists and Davis 13.

ALBA-GOLDEN 3, UNION GROVE 1: UNION GROVE — Alba-Golden notched a 25-20, 24-26, 26-24, 25-21 win over Union Grove on Tuesday.

Haley Breazeale had nine digs, two kills, 13 assists and three aces in the loss for Union Grove. Summer Grubbs added 12 digs, nine kills, 13 assists, two blocks and two aces. Lizzie Bible chipped in with six digs and five kills, McCayleigh Daniels 10 digs and three kills, Brooke Reeves five digs, six kills and five blocks, Madison Webb eight kills and seven bloks, Shayla Gallagher six digs and two kills, Mariana Gonzalez 13 digs, Peyton Chamberlain four digs and Madi Newman two digs.

Union Grove will participate in the Gary Tournament this weekend.

PAUL PEWITT 3, CLARKSVILLE 0: CLARKSVILLE — Ebbony Cobbins led the way with seven nkills as Paul Pewitt opened the season with a 28-26, 25-18, 25-17 win over Clarksville.

Calli Osmon had 13 service points and four kills for Paul Pewitt. Montana Laney added five digs, Jjacie rocker three points, Kenzie Taylor six points and 14 assists, Brelee Lawings 11 points and four kills and Lydia Makowiecki six points, three kills and two blocks.

CARLISLE 3, CHS 1: PRICE — Jailin Kee dished out 25 assists and added eight digs for Carlisle, which rallied for a 24-26, 25-15, 25-15, 25-14 win over Christian Heritage School.

Heather Craig added 12 kills, eight aces and seven digs for Carlisle, which also got 10 kills and five blocks from Aubrey Hart and five kills, six aces and 10 digs from Camdyn Gray.

Carlisle will participate in the Gary Tournament this weekend.

TST 3, LEVERETT'S CHAPEL 2: Leverett's Chapel dropped to 1-1 on the young season with a 25-22, 27-25, 11-25, 16-25, 15-11 loss to Trinity School of Texas.

Gracie Bathke had 12 digs, 25 assists and six aces for Leverett's Chapel. yesenia Avalos added 10 kills and 29 digs, Michelle Jamaica eight kills and 13 digs and Skyla Craig 39 digs, two aces and two kills.

Leverett's Chapel will host a tournament this weekend.

OVERTON 3, BIG SANDY 0: BIG SANDY — Maci Carpenter handed out 29 assists and added three blocks, four digs and two aces, leading Overton to a 25-23, 25-15, 25-22 win over Big Sandy.

Haley McMillan added 11 kills, five blocks and 14 digs for Overton. Molly Laws chipped in with nine kills, two blocks and four digs, Sarah Garrett six kills and eight digs and Jaylin Blakeney three kills, 10 digs and two aces.

GRAND SALINE 3, HAWKINS 0: HAWKINS — Hawkins dropped a 25-11, 25-20, 25-18 decision to Grand Saline in the season opener for both teams.

Grand Saline won the JV A match 25-17, 25-8, and Hawkins' JV B team won 25-18, 25-21.

Hawkins will host Cumberland Academy on Friday.

GRACE 3, GARY 0: GARY — Tyler Grace opened the season with a 25-18, 25-17, 25-23 win over Gary.

For Gary in the loss, Leann Youngblood finished with 11 kills and 12 digs, Taylor Rodgers 18 assists and two aces and Madie Davis five kills and 10 digs.

COMMERCE 3, RAINS 2: COMMERCE — Rains opened the season with a five-set loss to Commerce, falling 25-15, 24-26, 21-25, 25-22, 15-6.

Shelbi Sheppard had 10 kills, 13 assists, four blocks, two aces and 24 digs in the loss for Rains. McKenna Hildebrandt contributed eight kills and seven blocks, and Elissa Elliott and Presley McAree combined for 27 digs.

Rains will participate in the Garland ISD Tournament this weekend.


PITTSBURG 3, LINDEN-KILDARE 0: PITTSBURG — Dae'Jah Heath knocked down nine kills to go along with 10 digs, a block and three aces, and Pittsburg opened the 2017 season with a 26-24, 25-18, 25-22 sweep of Linden-Kildare.

Malaysia Burns added six kills and three blocks for Pittsburg, which also got 15 assists from Sydney Waldrep, six kills and seven assists from Makayla Thomas, four kills and five aces from Madison Sansom and 23 digs and three aces from Taylor Bullock.
