ET Softball Roundup: White Oak rolls over West Rusk, more

WHITE OAK 15, WEST RUSK 1: NEW LONDON — Samantha McGrew and Jessica Patak combined for five hits and seven RBIs, and the White Oak Ladynecks completed a sweep of West Rusk in Class 3A bi-district play with a 15-1 win over Friday.

White Oak won the opener on Thursday, 8-0.

In Friday's game, Patak went 2-for-4 and drove in four runs, and McGrew added three hits and three RBIs. Kiara Carter, Patak and Kayla Hunter all doubled. KayLynn Larrison added two hits and an RBI, and Kinsey Smith, Maci Teague, Carter and Hunter drove in runs.

Patak continued her dominance inside the circle, striking out nine, walking one and allowing a run on two hits. In two series games, she fanned 28, walked two and gave up three hits in 12 innings.

Sydnee Martin homered in the fifth for West Rusk's lone run. Meaghan Davis had the Lady Raiders' other hit, a double.

PITTSBURG 1, BROWNSBORO 0: MINEOLA — Bailey Smith and Kaycee Parker combined to strike out 15 in a 1-0 shutout win over Brownsboro as Pittsburg took the series lead in a Class 4A bi-district series.

The teams are scheduled to finish the series back in Mineola today starting at 1 p.m.

Smith earned the win, striking out nine with no walks and four hits allowed in five innings. Parker fanned six and walked one, giving up no hits in two innings.

Smith and Tori Henderson doubled for Pittsburg, with Henderson driving in the game's only run. Mckenna Wood, Madison Busch, Madison Sansom and Sydney Waldrep all added hits for the Lady Pirates.


HENDERSON 10, GLADEWATER 2: GLADEWATER — Brianna Robinson struck out 14 with two walks, allowing just two hits and no earned runs in a complete-game, 10-2 Henderson win over Gladewater in the opening game of a Class 4A bi-district playoff series.

Milee Green and Jamie Bowman tripled, and Maggi Dickerson doubled for Henderson, which banged out 12 hits. Caitlin Shippey went 4-for-4 with three RBIs and two runs scored.

Robinson had two hits and drove in a run, and Tori Lee singled and plated two runs. Katelyn Odom, Jamie Bowman and Hallie Lingle all drove in runs.

Murphy Williams had both hits for Gladewater. Williams also shouldered the pitching loss. She struck out seven and walked two.

Henderson won the second game of the series on Friday, 7-4, to advance to the area playoffs. The Lady Lions will take on North Lamar in the area round.

HARLETON 11, ARP 0: Randi Carol Phillips earned the pitching win and also homered to highlight a four-run third inning as Harleton advanced to the area playoffs with an 11-0 bi-district win over Arp at Spring Hill's Lady Panther Field.

Phillips finished with two hits. Inside the circle, she fanned 13 and allowed just one hit while issuing no walks.

Avery Underwood and Claire Underwood had two hits and an RBI apiece for Harleton. Brooke Weaver, Mikayla Lunsford, Aubrey Nixon and Dana Cooner all chipped in with hits, with Lunsfcord driving in two runs and Weaver and Nixon adding RBIs.

Harleton (19-10) will take on either Prairiland or New Boston in the area playoffs next week.
