STRIKEOUT CANCER GAME: KILGORE — The Kilgore College softball team will host its fifth annual "StrikeOut Cancer" games Saturday.

The Rangers will play Bossier Parish Community College at 1 and 3 p.m. at the Ballpark at KC Commons with pre-game ceremonies beginning at 12:45 p.m.

A pregame ceremony will honor softball players' family members, as well as KC employees, who have fought or are fighting cancer.

KC is looking for donors to pledge $50 for each strikeout that KC pitchers throw. There will also be a raffle of pink softballs autographed by this year's team, and special T-shirts will be for sale at the games.

PANOLA RODEO: The Panola College rodeo team will close out the season Friday and Saturday in Wharton.

Freshman Logan Cook of Alto has solidified a spot in the Collegiate National Finals Rodeo set for June in Casper, Wyoming. With the top three qualifying in each event for the CNFR, Cook currently sits in second in the saddle bronc competition. He has also climbed the ranks and sits third in the Men's All Around.

Teammates Abby Phillips and Taylor Gooch are fourth in barrel racing and goat tying.

TEAM SAM TOURNAMENT: The Team Sam Benefit Golf Tournament set for Saturday at Alpine Golf Course in Longview to benefit Sam Martinez, son of New Diana baseball coach Bernie Martinez, has been canceled.
