The College Report: Hallsville's Graff getting job done at Arkansas State

Hallsville graduate Darby Graff is off to a tremendous start to her volleyball season at Arkansas State University.
The Red Wolves have won six of their first seven matches, and Graff has hit an eye-popping .335, while pounding down 84 kills. The junior outside hitter, who is 6-foot-1, also has 16 blocks (five solos), 12 digs and two assists.
At the recent University of South Florida Classic, Graff had double-digit kills against University of Missouri and Florida Gulf Coast University. In the 3-1 win over FGCU, Graff had 19 kills and a .654 hitting percentage. She had six block assists and two digs. She had 14 kills and three blocks against the Missouri Tigers, who defeated Arkansas State 3-2. In the 3-0 blanking of South Florida, Graff finished with seven kills and three digs.
Hannah Robey (Pine Tree) is also a member of the Red Wolves' volleyball team. She had 11 digs in the win over FGCU, and finished with five digs and two assists in the win over USF and four digs in the loss to Missouri. Robey has 50 digs, seven assists and four aces.
Abbey Bybel (White Oak) had 15 digs, 12 kills and two block assists as her college team, Southern Methodist University, defeated University of New Mexico 3-2 to win the Lobo Classic. Bybel hit .205 in the match. To earn the title they also defeated Santa Clara University (3-1) and California State University-Fullerton (3-0). Bybel had 12 digs and nine kills against Santa Clara and eight kills and eight digs in the win over CSU-Fullerton. Southern Methodist is 5-1.
Kaci Jackson (Hallsville) helped Arkansas Tech split its first four volleyball matches, all of which were held at the Texas Woman's University Tournament in Denton. Jackson finished the four matches with 44 digs and 12 kills. Arkansas Tech defeated Texas A&M University-Commerce (3-0) and Texas A&M University-International (3-1), but lost to Texas Woman's (3-0) and Cameron University (3-0). She had her best match against Cameron as she had 16 digs and six kills.
Dorothy Swanson (White Oak) and the Abilene Christian University volleyball team are still looking for their first victory. Swanson, a junior outside hitter, has 31 digs, seven kills and four assists. Fellow ACU player Mikai Brown (Spring Hill) has five digs. Abilene Christian is 0-7.
Savannah Voelzke (Spring Hill) has two digs and one kills through the first six University of Arkansas matches. Arkansas is 5-1.
KD Cannon (Mount Pleasant) caught three passes for 104 yards to help the Baylor University Bears defeat Southern Methodist University. Cannon grabbed a 36-yard touchdown pass from Seth Russell with 30 seconds to play in the third quarter. Shock Linwood (Linden-Kildare) finished with 75 rushing yards on eight carries for the Bears.
Donald Jackson III (Kilgore) started on the Sam Houston State University offensive line as they piled up 637 yards of offense in a 59-45 loss to Texas Tec. Sam Houston State passed for 320 yards and rushed for 317 yards. They had 34 first downs and scored six touchdowns, five of which were rushing touchdowns.
Jalen Overstreet (Tatum) and A.J. Davis (Kilgore) also suited up for the SHSU Bearkats. Davis finished with six tackles (four solos) and one pass breakup. Overstreet had seven carries for 55 yards.
David Mims II (Daingerfield), a Texas State University senior cornerback, had three tackles, two of which were solos, in the Bobcats' 59-16 loss to Florida State University.
